Art, Technology, and Eco-Crisis

Visual artist and researcher Nick Laessing received a research grant from the Berlin Senate to work with the Heraclitus project this autumn. Nick's interdisciplinary practice explores the intersections of art, technology, and eco-crisis, exploring how art can play a transformative role in how we approach the urgencies of the climate crisis. During his PhD research (2016-2021) at the Slade School of Fine Art, he developed a low-cost hydrogen electrolyser to investigate practical uses of hydrogen as energy as a collaborative art practice. Nick will be working with the Heraclitus team on current projects as well as doing his own research into the Heraclitus in the context of ‘Useful Art and Climate Emergency’.
